Budget Padding: FG s reassigns 184 budget officials
President Muhammadu Buhari has demoted top civil servants who tampered with figures in the 2016 budget. At least 184 top officials were transferred to lesser establishments over the budget padding saga. It was gathered that 22 top officers from the Budget Office of the Federation were affected in the mass deployment.
The rest were removed from budget-related duties in other Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs. Out of the 22 top officials indicted in the budget office, four were directors on Level 17, six were deputy directors while 12 were Assistant directors.
14 directors have been asked to fill the vacant offices with immediate effect.
The Head of Service of the Federation, it was learnt conveyed the decision of the presidency to the affected officials. Those indicted were asked to vacate their offices within 24 hours. The development means Buhari has made real his vow to punish those who altered the 2016 fiscal document.
