NSE market capitalisation loses N3bn in profit taking
Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on Thursday on a negative note with the market capitalisation dropping by N3 billion amid price losses by blue chips.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N8.756 trillion, shed N3 billion or 0.34 per cent to close at N8.726 trillion. Also, the All-Share Index lost 86.17 points or 0.34 per cent to close at 25,369.52 against 25,455.69 posted on Wednesday.
Nestle topped the price losers’ table with a loss of N15 to close at N675 per share.
Dangote Cement came second with a loss of N2.01 to close at N169.99, while UACN dipped by 97k to close at N19.48 per share. Stanbic IBTC lost 25k to close at N13.45, while Oando Oil declined by 21k to close at N4.07 per share. Conversely, Seplat led the price gainers’ chart chalking up N2.65 to close at N309.15 per share.
Okomu Oil garnered N1.41to close at N29.77 and Nigerian Breweries improved by 99k to close at N108.99 per share. NAHCO appreciated by 17k to close at N3.89, while E-tranzact improved by 16k to close at N3.39 per share. EquityAsure drove the activity chart, accounting for 79.02 million shares valued at N39.51 million. It was trailed by Fidelity Bank with 29.54 million shares worth 39.87 million, GTBank traded 23.54 million shares worth N332.64 million, while Sterling Bank exchanged 18.06 million shares valued at N28.88 million. In all, investors exchanged 264.69 million shares valued at N1.31 billion in 3,033 deals. This was in contrast to the 202.99 million shares worth N885.63 million traded in 3,320 deals on Wednesday.
