CBN monetary policy members may be attending IMF meeting Tuesday
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said it will announce a decision on interest rates later today on Monday 19 September , a day earlier than expected. There is no official time given for the announcement of the interest rate decision but CBN Governor Lamido Sanusi is expected to address the media at around 1530 GMT. The CBN Monetary Policy Committee usually meets every two months on a Monday and Tuesday, announcing decisions reached at the conclusion of the two-day meeting. No reason was given for the shorter meeting this month but analysts said an International Monetary Fund meeting in the United States this week may be dragging MPC members away.
