FG to tax luxury items, first-business-class air tickets– Adeosun
The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, has disclosed that the federal government has signed a policy which imposes a tax on first-class and business-class air tickets alongside other luxury goods. The Minister stated this in a Facebook live presentation for today’s Tax Thursday, during which she also fielded questions from Nigerians on the Nigerian Tax Amnesty Scheme.

When asked what she thinks about placing a tax on first-class tickets and luxury coaches, Adeosun responded, “we signed something yesterday on luxury goods; champagne, brandy, whiskey, wine, jewelry, high-end jewelry.
“We’ve signed something that will bill access charge on first class and business class tickets, we are just doing the final parts of the implementation and we also want to try and amend the tax payer book on high end cars, luxury cars.”
