NDDC boss pledges accelerated development in Niger Delta
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) will fast track development in the Niger Delta region, the Managing Director of NDDC, Dr Christian Oboh, has said. Oboh told newsmen in Port Harcourt that 53 projects would be completed before the end of August. The projects are made up of road projects, water projects, electrifications projects and shore protection projects. Oboh also said that other projects under different phases of construction in the Niger Delta included one erosion control projects, two canalisation projects and one bridge. He said, “Our target is to deliver these projects before the end of August 2012. Immediately the contractors deliver these projects, they will be paid.” The managing director assured the contractors that anyone, who meets the NDDC’s expectations, would win more contracts in future. He noted the challenges in the execution of the projects, and gave the assurance that contractors would return to work immediately.
