The NSE All-Share Index lost 66bps as the market caved in to bearish sentiments. The banking sector went to the bears today, with no gain recorded in the sector. Unrelenting offers shaved off points from all top-tier banks as UBA, First Bank, Zenith Bank and GTBank lost 4.3 per cent, 1.7 per cent, 0.8 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively. Sentiments in the market suggest that this trend could continue. The breweries sector was also in line with the market trend as NB lost marginal points, while Guinness recorded no price change at the close of the session. On the flip side, fringe players were top gainers at the close of the day’s proceedings. Nahco Aviance and Prestige Assurance rallied with gains of 4.9 per cent and 4.6 per cent respectively. Nascon and Eterna Oil concluded the list of gainers in the market today with gains of 2.4 per cent and 1.8 per cent respectively.
