The World Economic Forum will not be held in Davos next year
The World Economic Forum planned for summer 2021 will not take place in Davos this year, according to its organisers. The annual gathering of bankers, business leaders and politicians from across the world had been delayed from January 2021 to early summer 2021 because of the pandemic ” a spokesperson told Financial News. The new location of the event remains unclear. The World Economic Forum announced its decision to delay the annual event in August.
“The decision was not taken easily, since the need for global leaders to come together to design a common recovery path and shape the ‘Great Reset’ in the post-Covid-19 era is so urgent,” said Adrian Monck, managing director of public engagement at WEF said in a statement last month. Davos was attended by 3,000 political leaders, chief executives and billionaires in January this year including US President Donald Trump, Microsoft c0-founder Bill Gates and Google CEO Sundar Pichai among others.

The World Economic Forum still plans to hold a digital event in January bringing together political and business leaders. “During the week of 25 January, we will digitally convene high-level ‘Davos Dialogues’ where key global leaders will share their views on the state of the world in 2021,” said Adrian Monck, managing director, public engagement, World Economic Forum in a statement in August.
