NSE moves N3.3bn shares in depressed trading
A total of 342.72 million shares worth N3.3 billion were traded in 4,649 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday. This was against the 329.41 million shares valued at N3.72 billion exchanged in 3,947 deals on Tuesday. The market indicators, however, depreciated due to price losses by some blue chips. The All-Share Index dipped by 27.47 points to close at 22,314.66 against the 22,342.12 recorded on Tuesday.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N7.125 trillion, shed N9 billion to close at N7.116 trillion. NewGold led the price losers’ chart with a loss of N22 to close at N2, 428 per unit. Larfage WAPCO followed by shedding N2.22 to close at N42.43 per share, while Unilever dropped N1 to close at N29 per share. Oando depreciated by 78k to close at N14.99 per share, while Presco lost 32k to close at N13.47per share.
On the other hand, Julius Berger led the price gainers’ chart with a gain of N1.63 to close at N34.24 per share. Guinness gained N1 to close at N224.25 per share, while First Bank grew by 39k to close at N11.29 per share. UPL appreciated by 17k to close at N3.75 per share while Eterna Oil rose by 14k to close N3.22 per share.
