Shocking 162 illegal oil connections, refineries found in Niger Delta in one week—NNPC
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited said it has uncovered 162 illegal oil pipeline connections and illegal refineries in the Niger Delta, particularly in Bayelsa in the last one week. This is contained in the report titled ‘War on Crude oil Theft’ by the company and shared through several social media. The report said the illegalities were discovered through a maritime intelligence system. According to the report, 93 illegal pipeline connections and 69 illegal refineries were discovered from Aboa and Gbokoda between July 15 and July 21 and which have been destroyed. NNPCL said that 27 pipelines were vandalised, while wooden boats, trucks and those arrested were about 30.
