NGX All-Share Index opens the week positive, gains 0.97%
Opening the week, the local bourse rebounded, up 0.97% to settle at 67,101.33 points. Investors interest in industrial heavyweight, BUACEMENT (+10.00%) alongside WAPCO (+0.17%) and NB (+9.09%) were the primary drivers of the overall market’s positive performance outweighing losses in Tier-1 banking names, ZENITHBANK (-0.16%), GTCO(-0.42%) and ACCESSCORP (-0.62%). As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 30.93%, while market capitalisation gained ₦355.46bn to close at ₦36.87trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 61.23%. A total of 268.66m shares valued at ₦3.46bn were exchanged in 6,911 deals. ACCESSCORP (-0.62%) led the volume and value chart with 29.17m units traded in deals worth ₦465.98m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 1.25-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. FTNCOCOA (-8.33%) led nineteen (19) others on the laggard’s log while BUACEMENT (+10.00%) topped fifteen (15) others on the leader’s table.
