NSE market capitalisation dips by N6bn
Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued on a downward trend on Wednesday as the market capitalisation dipped by N6 billion to close at N7.354 trillion compared with N7.360 trillion on Tuesday. The All-Share Index lost 20.27 points to close at 23,105.05 points as against 23,125.32 points on Tuesday.
NewGold led the losers’ chart with N17 to close at N2,445 per unit, while Mobil followed with N4.98 to close at N111.51 per share. Lafarge Wapco lost 50k to close at N43; Berger Paints dropped 36kto close at N6.93, while Cement Company of Northern Nigeria dipped by 19k to close at N4.30 per share. On the other hand, International Breweries topped the gainers’ table with 31k to close at N6.61 per share.
Nigerian Breweries appreciated by 28k to close at N120.35; Longman garnered 9k to close at N1.94, while Honey Well Flour gained 8k to close at N1.98 per share. The banking sub-sector remained the most active with 147.15 million shares worth N1.28 billion traded in 2,028 deals.
First Bank emerged as the most traded stock with 44.35 million shares worth N545.27million in 578 deals. FCMBtrailed with a turnover of 24.69 million shares valued at N74.06 million traded in 52 deals, while Skye Bank accounted for 17.61 million shares worth N47.01 million in 119 deals. In all, a total of 231.98 million shares worth N1.65 billion were exchanged by investors in 3,759 deals as against 206.95 million shares valued at N1.35 billion traded in 3,755 deals on Tuesday.
