NGX All-Share Index extends losing streak, down 33bps

Extending its losing streak for the sixth successive session, the domestic bourse ended lower as the benchmark Index tumbled by 33bps to settle at 99,468.90 points. Bearish sentiment in SEPLAT (-8.30%), ACCESSCORP (-1.04%) and TRANSCORP (-3.63%)  drove the market’s weak performance, outweighing gains in AIRTELAFRI (+0.14%), GTCO (+0.22%) and ZENITHBANK (+0.13%). Having lost in the four trading sessions this week, the market is on track for another week of loss.  Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 33.03%, with market capitalization losing ₦188.47bn to close at ₦56.27trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down 53.99%. A total of 269.73m shares valued at ₦5.45bn were exchanged in 7,126 deals. FIDELITYBK (-0.48%) led the volume chart with 46.78m units traded while SEPLAT (-8.30%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦1.15bn.
Market breadth closed positive at a 1.24-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones. LINKASSURE (+9.80%) topped twenty (20) others on the leader’s table while IKEJAHOTEL (-9.29%) led sixteen (16) others on the laggard’s log.
