NSE indices appreciate marginally in lukewarm trading
Trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) was lukewarm on Tuesday as the market indices appreciated marginally. The All-Share Index grew by 1.87 points or 0.007 per cent to close at 26,382.54 from the opening index of 26,380.67. The Market capitalisation also appreciated by N6 billion to close at N8.429 trillion. Nestle led the price gainers chart with a gain of N6.18 to close at N656.20 per share.
Guinness gained N1.10 to close at N241.10 per share, while NCR rose by 72k to close at N15.12 per share. UACN appreciated by 65k to close at N42.65 per share. On the other hand, NewGold led the losers’ chart, dropping N28 to close at N2, 600 per share. Nigerian Breweries lost N1.99 to close at N140.01 per share, while Stanbic IBTC fell by 55k to close at N10.64 per share.
Cadbury dropped 30k to close at N27, while AshakaCement lost 28k to close at N19 per share. In all, investors exchanged 239.44 million shares worth N1.9 billion in 4,010 deals. This was against the 252.58 million shares valued at N2.0 billion traded in 3,507 deals on Monday.
