Civil society organization, the Hope Alive Initiative HAI, has lauded businessman and philanthropist Mr Matthew Tonlagha for his exceptional patriotism, specifically citing his recent commitment of $750,000 to bolster diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the United States.

In a statement issued on Thursday to mark Mr. Tonlagha’s 50th birthday, the group noted his decision to engage Valcour, a premier American lobbying firm. The partnership is designed to facilitate strategic engagement with the American media, Congress and the administration of President Donald Trump.

HAI noted that the six-month, three-quarter-million-dollar investment is a selfless effort to advance Nigeria’s national interest and strengthen bilateral cooperation rather than for personal gain.

Director of Press and Communications for HAI, Ernest Omoarelojie, described the gesture as a “rare demonstration of patriotism” that aligns with the vision of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He characterized Tonlagha as a vital ally of the federal government, working tirelessly to safeguard national assets and optimize the country’s economic potential.

Beyond his recent diplomatic interventions, the group highlighted Tonlagha’s role as the Vice Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. The organization credited his leadership with significantly curbing oil theft and restoring crude production levels, which has recovered billions in national revenue and stabilized the Nigerian economy.

The statement further praised Tonlagha’s entrepreneurial success through MATON Engineering Nigeria Limited, an indigenous firm that has created thousands of jobs.

It equally celebrated his philanthropic profile, noting his extensive scholarship programmes, empowerment of widows in the Niger Delta, and vocational training for thousands of youths across the region.

“His leadership style, rooted in fairness and responsibility, has elevated communities and national institutions toward growth.

“The HAI celebrates this true Nigerian leader and applauds his unwavering love for the country, urging him to continue his exemplary commitment to national development”, the statement added.
