Aiteo resumes production after Nembe Field Oil leak
Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO), operator of the NNPC / Aiteo Joint Venture on OML 29, has resumed production after it shut down following an oil leak at its facility in the Nembe Creek, Bayelsa State. Recall that the indigenous oil firm, had earlier in week confirmed a spill at the Nembe swamp facility in OML 29. The leak, according to the company, occurred during routine operations prompting the immediate activation and shut down of all production at the facility by its Oil Spill and Emergency Response Team. However, a Spokesperson, for the oil firm Matthew Indiana, in a statement, on Saturday confirmed the resumption of production in the area. He said: “AEEPCO will reopen its facilities for production while continuing other statutory spill management protocols concurrently.
“Consequently, AEEPCO’s Group Managing Director, Victor Okoronkwo, in the update stated: After a comprehensive evaluation of our operations and infrastructure at the Nembe Swamp Field, we are delighted to confirm the resumption of production activities. Our dedicated team has worked diligently to address the issues caused by the recent incident and implemented enhanced safety protocols to prevent future occurrences. We have engaged with regulatory bodies, local communities, and stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability throughout this process.”
