CBN Deputy Gov not arrested over $300m fraud–CBN source
The Department of State Services (DSS) has not arrested or detained Ms Aisha Ahmad over allegations of fraud. The Deputy Governor like all others and Directors have been going to EFCC office on invitation. According to those who have knowledge of her daily schedule “the deputy governor was right in her home”. Ms Ahmad is the deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of financial system stability.
Contrary to social media and some media report that she is being detained over the alleged fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank. “Ms Ahmad was invited by EFCC but not detained on how $300 million to complete the acquisition of Union Bank was raised by Titan Bank,” the source said. DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, was not available to respond to comments on Ms Ahmad’s purported arrest as at press time.
