Closing gender gap part of CBN’s corporate strategy – Emefiele
The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has lauded the contributions of women at the Bank, saying closing gender gap is part of the CBN’s corporate strategy. He disclosed this on Friday, March 8, 2019, in his message to commemorate the 2019 International Women’s Day.
Emefiele, who noted that achieving gender equality must go beyond voicing the slogan, urged all and sundry to take deliberate steps towards closing the gender gap, something he said the Bank had taken seriously by integrating it into its corporate strategy.
He described this year’s theme, “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” as apt, given the global wave of change towards finding more smart and innovative technological methods of achieving positive change. The Governor, who observed that achieving gender-equality was not one man’s task, charged employees of the Bank to be conscious of and understand their individual and collective roles in ensuring equality without compromising excellence. The International Women’s Day is celebrated globally every 8thof March, and the Bank has lined up series of events to commemorate it on 12th,19thand 21stMarch, 2019. These activities are spearheaded by a bank-wide team led by the Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, Mrs. Aishah Ahmad.
