EFCC interrogates suspected oil thief in Uyo
Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have commenced investigations of a suspected illegal petroleum dealer handed over to them by the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Uyo The suspect, whose name was given as Endurance Asuquo, was handed over to the EFCC on Tuesday upon his arrest by the Army along Calabar-Itu Highway Road on February 27, 2022.
He was arrested alongside a Sino truck with registration number – DRK 700XA loaded with about 5000 litres of products suspected to be illegally refined diesel and kerosene. According to a statement by the Spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, the products were concealed in reinforced plastic bags tucked in many sac bags in a bid to escape being detected by security agents. Uwujaren indicated that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation were concluded.
