Fidelity offers interim dividend of 10k per share, market closed on positive note
Fidelity Bank Plc on the floor of the Stock Exchange said it is offering an interim dividend of 10kb per 50kb ordinary share subject to appropriate withholding tax. The dividend would be paid to shareholders whose names appear in the Register of members as at close of business on September 12, 2022. The dividend would be paid electronically on September 20, 2022.
Meanwhile the Stock market closed on a positive note as gains in BUAFOODS (+4.5%), WAPCO (+4.6%), and GUINNESS (+9.9%) lifted the benchmark index by 0.4% to 49,836.51 points. Likewise, market capitalisation rose ₦104.5bn to ₦26.9tn while YTD return improved to 16.7% (previously: 16.2%). Market activity improved as volume and value traded rose 191.7% and 5.4% respectively to 367.3m unitsand ₦3.2bn.
Performance was bullish across our coverage sectors as 4 indices gained, 1 lost while the AFR-ICT index closed flat. The Consumer Goods and Banking indices advanced 1.8% and 0.6% respectively due to price uptick in BUAFOODS (+4.5%), GUINNESS (+9.9%), ETI (+1.9%), and FIDELITY (+4.9%). Likewise, buy interest in WAPCO (+4.6%), ARDOVA (+4.1%), and OANDO (+1.0%) pushed the Industrial Goods and Oil & Gas indices higher by 30 bps and 20bps respectively. On the flip side, the Insurance index declined 0.1% courtesy of sell offs in CHIPLC(-7.7%) and SOVRENIN (-7.1%). Investor sentiment, as measured by market breadth, improved to 0.09x (previously: 0.00x) as 21 indices gained, 14 lost while 81 closed flat. In the next trading session, we expect bargain hunting activities to sustain the positive performance.
