Market indices record 0.57% as Nestle leads gainers’ chart
Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed for the 18th week on a positive note as the market indices further appreciated due to price gains by blue chip equities. Nestle on Friday led the gainers’ chart with a gain of N20.95 to close at N439.95 per share. Mobil came second with N5.85 to close at N123.01, while Lafarge grew by N2.08 to close at N43.87 per share.
Flour Mill appreciated by N2 to close at N62, while UACN rose by N1.62 to close at N34.12 per share. On the other hand, NewGold led the losers’ chart dropping by N9 to close at N2.51 per unit. Dangote Cement followed with N2.56 to close at N119.44, while Guinness dropped by N2 to close at N240 per share. Cadbury depreciated by 80k to close at N15.22, while International Breweries dipped by 28k to close at N5.41 per share.
Consequently, the all-share index which opened at 22,537.97 appreciated by 128.02 bases point or 0.57 per cent to close at 22,665.99. Also, the market capitalisation increased by N41 billion, representing 0.57 per cent to close at N7.228 trillion as against N7.187 trillion recorded the previous day. Over all, investors’ traded 706.87 million shares worth N4.88 billion in 4,234 deals recording an increase of 22.96 per cent. This was in contrast to 574.89 million shares valued N4.68 billion exchanged in 4,441 deals on Thursday.
