Nigerian equities market closed today’s session on a positive note, as the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 0.15% to close at 246,388.22 points, while market capitalisation rose by 0.15% to N159.15trn.

This brought the ASI year-to-date return to 58.33%, from 58.10% in the previous session.

The positive sentiment was driven by gains in stocks such as FCMB (+1.41%), SEPLAT (+10.00%), and DANGSUGAR (+1.41%), which outweighed sell-offs in ARADEL (-5.84%), AIICO (-4.63%), and CMFC (-9.86%).

Trading activity strengthened, with total volume traded increasing by 1.68% to 434.02mn units, while transaction value rose by 3.03% to N29.30bn. UBA (-1.08%) led both the volume and value charts, with 113.26mn units traded worth N5.23bn.

Market breadth was negative at 0.58x, reflecting a higher number of losers relative to gainers, as thirty-six (36) stocks declined against twenty-one (21) advancers. RTBRISCOE (-10.00%) emerged as the session’s top decliner, while SEPLAT (+10.00%) led the gainers’ chart.
