NGX All-Share Index extends gains, up 0.41%

The local bourse opened the week on a positive note, extending gains from the previous session as the All-Share Index closed 0.41% stronger to close at 65,268.28 points, the highest point since 29 February 2008. Sustained investors interest in STANBIC, FBNH and WAPCO outweighed selloffs in Tier-1 banking names ZENITHBANK (-1.28%), ACCESSCORP and UBA. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 27.35%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦144.24 billion to close at ₦35.54 trillion.

Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 9.31%. A total of 831.50m shares valued at ₦12.94 billion were exchanged in 9,768 deals. FBNH (+9.82%) led the volume and value charts with 346.99m units traded in deals worth ₦7.44 billion.

Market breadth closed negative at a 1.14-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. MULTIVERSE (-9.97%) led twenty-three (23) others on the laggard’s log, while NASCON (+10.00%) topped twenty (20) others on the leader’s table.
