NGX All-Share Index extends weekly gains, up 0.08%
In the last trading session of the week, the domestic bourse extended losses as the All-Share Index declined by 0.65% to close at 65,056.39 points. Bearish sentiments in market heavyweight, MTNN alongside ZENITHBANK, and GTCO were the top drivers of the market plunge. Having lost in three (3) of five (5) trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.08% higher w/w, extending gains for the second consecutive week.
Over the course of the week, MTNN, GEREGU, and SEPLAT were the major drivers of the week’s gain outweighing losses in ZENITHBANK, GTCO and ACCESSCORP. As a result, the ASI year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 26.94%, while the market capitalisation gained ₦7.67bn w/w to close at ₦35.40trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 11.46%. A total of 459.77m shares valued at ₦5.35bn were exchanged in 8,051 deals. UBA (-2.03%) led the volume and value charts with 57.62m units traded in deals worth ₦832.31m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 1.88-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. CHAMS (-10.00%) topped thirty-one (31) others on the laggard’s log, while COURTVILLE (+10.00%) led sixteen (16) others on the leader’s table.
