NGX All-Share Index sustains weekly gains, up 0.20% w/w
In the last trading session of the week, the local bourse ended the week on a positive note as the All-Share Index closed 0.18% stronger to settle at 65,325.37 points. Gains in telco heavyweight, MTNN (+1.05%) alongside, DANGSUGAR (+1.85%) and ETI (+1.94%) pushed the broader index into positive terrain offsetting losses in GTCO (-0.26%), STANBIC (-0.16%) and ACCESSCORP (-0.86%). Having gained in three (3) of five (5) trading sessions this week, the ASI closed 0.20% higher w/w.
Over the course of the week, positive performances across MTNN (+1.05% w/w), BUAFOODS (+0.75% w/w) and ZENITHBANK (+2.64% w/w) were sufficient to offset the selloff in DANGCEM (-0.60% w/w), GEREGU (-1.59% w/w) and STANBIC (-1.69% w/w). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 27.46%, while the market capitalization gained ₦92.68bn w/w to close at ₦35.57trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 45.60%. A total of 489.69m shares valued at ₦8.36bn were exchanged in 5,804 deals. STERLINGNG (+3.20%) led the volume chart with 86.11 m units traded while SEPLAT (+0.00%) led the value chart in deals worth ₦3.54bn.
Market breadth closed positive at 1.11-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. GLAXOSMITH (+9.78%) topped nineteen (19) others on the leader’s table while MBENEFIT (-7.84%) led seventeen (17) others on the laggard’s log.
