For the third consecutive session in a row, the Nigeria Exchange market closed on a positive note as the ASI and market capitalisation increased by 0.37% to 109,467.64 points and N68.80trn. Demand in HONYFLOUR), BETAGLAS and NPFMCRBK outweighed selloffs in MULTIVERSE, WAPIC and LASACO leaving the market in the green. As a result, the ASI year-to-date return closed at 6.36% from 5.96% yesterday. Trade turnover settled lower, relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 29.93% to N13.88bn contrarily, volume added 37.38% to 729.88m units. FCMB(-0.53%) led the volume chart with 273.04m units, while MTNN(+0.00%) led the value chart for the second time with N3.43bn.
Market breadth closed positive at 1.57-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones. HONYFLOUR(+10.00%) led the gainers table, while MULTIVERSE(-9.64%) led the laggards log. In the NASD OTC market today, NSI and market capitalisation gained 0.36% to close at 3,153.9units and 1.85bn respectively. Trade volume decreased by 82.22% to close at 304,374units, and value edged lower by 91.57% to close at 5.20m.
