No fly zone : We are not aware of Presidential directive yet…NAMA
Zamfara State has been declared a No-fly-zone by the President as part of measures to combat insecurity in that part of the country. Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA has however said it was not aware of the Presidential directive that Zamfara State has been declared a No- fly- zone by President Muhamadu Buhari.
NAMA is the agency statutorily mandated to monitor and close any part of Nigeria airspace to flight traffic. Mr Steve Onabe Deputy Public Affairs said that NAMA has not been officially notified by the presidency, as at the time of filing this report, to issue NOTAM , that is Notice to Air Men informing pilots not to fly through Zamfara State. Efforts were also made to reach the Managing Director of NAMA, Captain Akin Akinkuotu. Calls to his cell phone were not answered or returned as at the time of filing this report.
