NSCDC bust illegal refinery in Port Harcourt residence, seize property
Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, have bust a resident in Port Harcourt where oil thieves refine their stolen petroleum products. NSCDC operatives discovered the residence within Elelewo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. The State Commandant of NSCDC, Joachim Okafor, yesterday led a team of officers to the premises where the illegal activities take place. Okafor revealed that the discovery was made possible following the commitment of the command in the fight against oil theft.
He property has been seized as an exhibits, adding that the yard would be forfeited to the Federal Government after thorough investigation. The NSCDC commandant further emphasized that the activities of the illegal crude oil business in the area was causing serious environmental hazard and health issues to the people of the area. He further appealed to people of the state to always give useful information to the command about where illegally refining of crude oil is taking place .
