NSE: highly capitalised equities record price losses
Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) opened for the week on a bearish note on Monday following price losses by some blue chips. the market capitalisation lost N43 billion to close at N8.37 trillion from the N8.41 trillion posted on Friday. The drop represented a loss by 0.51 per cent. Also, the All-Share Index dropped 133.37 points or 0.51 per cent to close at 26,267.57 against 26,400.94 posted on Friday.
Nigerian Breweries recorded the highest price loss of N4.50 to close at N131 per share. It was followed by Nestle which depreciated by N2.39 to close at N598.11, while Lafarge Wapco lost 44k to close at N57.51 per share. Academy Press dropped 33k to close at N3 per share, while National Salt lost 27k to close at N6.20 per share. Conversely, NewGold led the gainers’ chart with a gain of N19 to close at N2, 653 per unit, while Cadbury appreciated by 82k to close at N26.71 per share. International Breweries gained 44k to close at N13.74, Presco rose by 30k to close at N14.75, while Flourmills gained 20k to close at N63.30 per share. A total of 194.93 million shares worth N2.22 billion were exchanged in 3,759 deals against the 179.85 million shares valued at N1.14 billion traded in 3,422 deals on Friday.
