NSE indices record 1.20 per cent growth
The market indices at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday rebounded by 1.20 per cent due to massive gains by blue chip equities after dropping for about two weeks.
The market capitalisation rose by N135 billion or 1.20 per cent to close at N11.350 trillion against the N11.215 trillion posted on Friday. Also, the All-Share Index which opened at 32,853.49 appreciated by 395.70 points or 1.20 per cent to close at 33,249.19.
Forte oil led the gainers’ table, increasing by N9.10 to close at N191.10 per share.
Seplat followed with N8.81 to close at N340.06 while Guinness appreciated by N7.67 to close at N161.17 per share. Dangote Cement gained N4 to close at N174 while Cadbury grew by N1.55 to close at N36.50 per share. Conversely, Mobil Oil topped the losers’ chart, dropping by N3.85 to close at N155 per share. Nestle trailed with N2.25 loss to close at N889.20, while Nigerian Breweries lost 81k to close at N147 per share.
Glaxosmithkline declined by 50k to close at N43.50 while CCNN lost 30k to close at N10.20 per share.
Altogether, investors bought and sold 351.51 million shares worth N5.24 billion achieved in 3,983 deals compared 335.41 million shares valued N9.02 billion traded in 3,462 deals on Friday. Access Bank was the toast of investors with an exchange of 94.64 million shares worth N543.69 million traded in 286 deals. It was followed by Oando having accounted for 54.73 million shares valued at N899.73 million in 235 deals while FBN Holdings traded 29.94 million shares worth N238.58 million in 389 deals.
Fidelity Bank traded 21.79 million shares valued N37.75 million in 74 deals and Sterling Bank sold 18.38 million shares worth N36.77 million exchanged in 335 deals.
