NSE trades 511.32m shares worth N4.63bn
Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday staked N4.63 billion on 511.32 million shares in 5,209 deals. The volume of transactions represented 97.87 per cent increase over the 258.41 million shares worth N2.01 billion traded in 4,552 deals on Monday. The financial services sector remained the toast of investors as the Africa Alliance emerged the most traded equity.
The sector accounted for 155.98 million shares valued at N77.99 million. Access Bank came second with 52.97 million shares worth N481.23 million, while UBA accounted for 41.38 million shares valued N280.28 million. Diamond Bank traded 33.11 million shares worth N204.87 million, while UBA Capital exchanged 28.40 million shares valued at N59.31 million.
The NSE All-Share Index appreciated by 32.18 points or 0.08 per cent to close at 38,480.07 as against the 38,447.89 achieved on Monday. Similarly, the market capitalisation rose by N10 billion or 0.08 per cent to close at N12.667 trillion from the N12.657 trillion posted on Monday. Seplat recorded the highest price gain of N30.96 to close at N662.99 per share.

It was trailed by Nestle, which gained N10 to close at N1,080, while Total appreciated by N2.50 to close at N152.50 per share. Lafarge Wapco chalked up N2.20 to close at N110.02, while UACN rose by N1.75 to close at N57 per share. Conversely, 7UP led the losers’ chart by N4.50 to close at N85.50 per share. Nigerian Breweries lost 69k to close at N148.72, while Dangote Cement dropped 59k to close at N225.92 per share.
Stanbic IBTC and UAC Property lost 40k each to close at N22.60 and N23 per share respectively.
