Russia is still delivering gas to Europe via Ukraine
Russian gas producer Gazprom said on Sunday its supply of gas to Europe through Ukraine via the Sudzha entry point stood at 44.1 million cubic metres, up from 43.96 mcm on Saturday. An application to supply gas via another major entry point, Sokhranovka, was rejected by Ukraine, Gazprom said. According to Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom said that Russia is still delivering gas to Europe via Ukraine and at the agreed levels reported Belga News Agency reports. It said “Gazprom carries out the supply of Russian gas for transit through the territory of Ukraine in the regular scale and according to the requirements of European consumers,” a Gazprom spokesperson was quoted as saying by Russian news agency Interfax on Sunday.

Some 109.5 million cubic metres of gas were scheduled to flow to Europe on Sunday. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, Western countries have imposed tough sanctions on Russia, and many feared that Moscow might retaliate by cutting off gas deliveries. During the fighting in Ukraine, pipelines in six areas have been damaged, cutting off hundreds of thousands of people from the gas supply, the Ukrainian news agency, UNIAN, quoted the operators of Ukraine’s gas-transit system as say in Sixteen gas distribution stations in Ukraine, including those in areas around Kharkiv, Kiev, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk and Luhansk, have stopped working, Belga reported.
