Stop panic buying we have 2.1bn litres of petrol in stock—NNPCL
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has advised Nigerians against panic buying of petrol as it has adequate supply for now. It said it had about 2.1 billion litres of petrol in stock. The NNPC said this in a statement by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Garba Deen Muhammad. It said the 2.1 billion litres in stock represented 0.9 billion litres in all the land depots nationwide and 1.2 billion litres on marine vessels. NNPCL said the stock was also adequate for 35 days sufficiency as at March 4, 2023. It said it planned to close the month of March with about 2.8 billion litres, which is equivalent to 47 days of sufficiency.
The NNPC said some queues in some filling stations were largely due to restrictions in businesses and movement during the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections. “We expect normalcy to be restored in the next few days. NNPC Ltd. and all its partners and stakeholders will continue to work together to ensure seamless distribution of petroleum products around the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections. We, therefore, enjoin Nigerians not to engage in panic buying,” it added.
