NSE market indices drop by 0.45 per cent
The indicators of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday dropped by 0.45 per cent due to profit-taking. The market capitalisation lost N48 billion to close at N10.63 trillion against the N10.67 trillion recorded on Wednesday. Also, the All-Share Index, which opened at 33,357.16, lost 150.15 points to close at 32,207.0.
NAN reports that Guinness, for the second consecutive day, led the losers’ chart with N5.70 to close at N275.50 per share. It was trailed by Oando, which lost N1.80 to close at N16.70 while Presco dipped by 30k to close at N23.50 per share. NAHCO dropped 24k to close a N7.95, while CAP shed 20k to close at N36.10 per share.
Conversely, Nestle and NewGold topped the gainers’ table with N9 each to close at N842 and N2,453, respectively. Lafarge Wapco gained N2 to close at N72; Champion Breweries rose by 22k to close at N4.78, while PZ appreciated by 19k to close at N40.25 per share. In all, the turnover of shares traded increased by 107.99 per cent as investors exchanged 638.42 million shares valued at N6.27 billion in 5,880 deals. This was in contrast to the 306.95 million shares worth N3.31 billion traded in 5,807 deals on Wednesday. UBA was investors’ delight, accounting for 140.37 million shares valued at N1.25 billion. It was followed by Unity Bank which sold 121.81 million shares worth N101.31 million.
