Nigerian equities market opened the week in the red as the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) declined by 0.11% to close at 239,085.17 points, while the market capitalisation declined by 0.09% to close at N154.40trn. Consequently, the year-to-date return moderated to 53.64%, from 53.81% in the previous week.
The negative sentiment was driven by losses in FIDELITYBK (-6.00%), FIRSTHOLDCO (-1.58%), and UBA (-1.44%) which offset gains in ACCESSCORP (+1.85%), GTCO (+0.55%), and DANGSUGAR (+0.15%).

Trading activity was mixed, with traded volume advancing by 60.49% to 668.72mn units, while transaction value decreased by 33.13% to N23.83bn. UBA (-1.44%) led the volume chart with 89.63mn units traded, while FIRSTHOLDCO (-1.58%) topped the value chart with transactions worth N7.90bn.
Market breadth remained negative at 0.58x, reflecting more decliners than gainers, with thirty-three (33) stocks declining against nineteen (19) advancers. INTENEGINS (-9.82%) led the losers’ chart, while REDSTAREX (+9.86%) emerged as the session’s top gainer.
