NSE index dips by 0.09%
Weekly transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on Friday on depressed note as major blue chips recorded price loss. All- share index, which opened at 41,957.50, depreciated by 39.95 points or 0.09 per cent to close at 41,917.55. Market capitalisation dropped N12 billion to close at N13.432 trillion against the N13.444 trillion posted on Thursday.
Nestle recorded the highest price loss of N15 to close at N1,180 per share. Guinness followed with a loss of N1.20 to close at N230.80, while Julius Berger dipped by N1 to close at N69 per share. Zenith Bank lost 90k to close at N24.60, while ETI declined by 47k to close at N16.50 per share.

On the other hand, Nigerian Breweries led the gainers’ table with N1.99 to close at N164.99 per share. Dangote Cement trailed with a gain of N1.74 to close at N233.75, while CAP gained N1 to close at N49 per share. UACN grew by 97k to close at N71.20, while Glaxosmith appreciated by 50k to close at N69 per share.
NAN reports that the volume of shares traded, however, rose by 39.84 per cent as investors exchanged 486.982 million shares worth N6.15 billion in 5,947 deals.
These were against the 348.236 million shares valued at N3.91 billion traded in 5,868 deals on Thursday. The Financial Services Sector was the most active with Sky Bank accounting for 68.39 million shares worth N280.15 million in 182 deals.
Zenith Bank followed with 41.76 million shares worth N1.05 million exchanged by investors in 431 deals, while Transcorp sold 38.04 million shares valued at N153.31 million in 278 deals.
