6 ships arrive Lagos ports with petroleum products
Six motor tankers laden with petroleum products have arrived at the Lagos ports, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) said on Tuesday. The NPA in its daily publication, “Shipping Position’’, made available to Newsmen in Lagos said another six motor vessels bearing food items and general cargo were also waiting to berth at the ports.
The NPA also disclosed that it was expecting 39 vessels to sail into the ports from Sept. 23 to Oct. 20. The publication said that “39 vessels are expected to sail into the ports in Lagos and they will arrive with different cargoes”.
A breakdown by the publication shows that 17 of the 39 expected vessels will sail in with containers, while 11 other vessels are to arrive at the ports with different food items.
It said the food items included bags of rice, frozen fish, bulk sugar and buck wheat.
The petroleum products being expected to arrive in four vessels include fuel, kerosene and aviation fuel, it added.
“While general cargoes are expected to be brought into the ports in five vessels, the remaining two vessels are expected to sail in with used vehicles,’’it said.
The statement said the vessels would sail into various port terminals, including the Atlas Cove Jetty, the New Oil Jetty, the Petroleum Jetty, the Single Buoy Mooring and the Fishery Wharf.
