Over forty countries impose ban on travellers from UK.
About forty countries have so far imposed bans on travellers arriving from the United Kingdom, in response to the rapid growing new infectious strain of COVID-19 spreading across the UK. Among those are Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands, plus countries farther afield including Saudi Arabia, Colombia and Thailand. Other countries have introduced tighter quarantine rules for arrivals from the UK. Anyone arriving into Greece must self-isolate for 7 days, regardless of whether they have a negative Covid-19 result. The travel bans will affect thousands of British holidaymakers, planning to get away between now and January 1.
At a conservative estimate, approximately 250,000 people will be affected, with losses amounting to more than £400 million for the travel industry
Countries across Europe and the world are imposing or considering short-term bans on travel links with the UK. These are the key questions and answers. The infectious mutation of the Covid-19 virus which appears to be raging in London and parts of southeast England is causing serious concern around the world. New coronavirus strain up to 70% more transmissible, UK government says. As other countries imposes restrictions on travellers from the UK, and in some cases those who have spent time in the UK in the previous two weeks, The Federal government of Nigeria is yet to take a decisive action to ban travellers from the UK.
Several Nigerians await the ban on UK flights into the country with the recent growing number of affected cases in the country. Foreign Affairs staff who spoke on anonymity said, ” I am surprised at the way this country operates, do you know that the rich men whose families and children are schooling in the UK are the one’s stopping the Federal government to place a ban on these travellers. “They want their families to arrive into the country before they will announce the ban. Where have we gone wrong in this country? Why are our leaders so selfish? Nigeria does not have proper health facilities. Where is the fate of a poor man in this country. See the rate at which COVID-19 cases are raising and our government is waiting to welcome people coming into the country with COVID-19.
